Projects &

Initiatives

Let’s raise our helping hands and make a difference in the life of a child today.

We are committed in using innovative means to achieve our aims through our projects and initiatives.

Getting the children of Mepe more interested in reading. This initiative started earnestly on the 10th of August 2019 with 20 children and grew rapidly to about two hundred and fifty children. The reading is held on the Queen mother’s compound on Saturdays from 9am to 11am.

This initiative is being fine-tuned every week for maximum results. The children are served as much water as each needs and a snack at the end of each session to help replenish energy lost in commute to the place and in learning.

We have about ten volunteers who teach the children as and when they are able to. Children of upper primary are put in groups to read. They call the teachers when they do not understand something.

Kindergarten and lower primary children are grouped and taught by the teachers.

Once the reading club is well established another of our initiatives will be rolled out.

The plan for this initiative is to equip the young ones with different sets of skills that they are interested in. We are going to have volunteers to teach dress making, cookery, carpentry etc. as soon as we are able to recruit volunteers who are able and will to teach.

Competitive sports are some of the tools we will use to keep the young one busy and out of trouble. Team will be formed for football, Volley ball, Table tennis, Badminton, etc.

Our young ones will be taught how to give back to their society by engaging in voluntary cleanup exercises among other things.

This initiative will recruit responsible adults after background checks to mentor some of the children in to productive responsible adults. They do not have to spend money them. They just teach them the ethical and appropriate behavior. Reading club teachers are in the mean time doing this mentorship en masse, pep talking the children each time they come for reading.

Mitso Foundation was founded to address some issues concerning the young people of Mepe Traditional area and neighboring communities. Issues of youth indiscipline, teenage pregnancy and lack of interest in higher education are of great interest to us.
